Unfortunately for the shutter this marks the end of the good times. Now it faces a lonely existence, travelling the length of highways and motorways at the rear end of the trailer, perhaps with only a tail lift for company. Cold, wet, covered in road grime, with only the occasional chemical wash to look forward to; our lonely shutter door needs to be on its best behaviour at every destination. In the dry freight business many doors are treated to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach to maintenance. In the cold chain things are usually better. Your shutter is a vital piece of equipment, securing, protecting and providing the only access point to thousands of pounds worth of food on each delivery. Chilled on the inside, grimy and wet on the outside, we expect the door to operate perfectly every time - otherwise we have major issues. Remember then, to give your door some TLC. By that we mean a Thorough Lubrication and Check; clean the tracks of dirt and grime, replace the seals damaged by handling equipment, lubricate the rollers, hinges and springs, check the fixings are tight and the cables aren't worn. Make sure any replacement parts are genuine and to the OEM specification. Cheap copies are a false economy.
